Morning, neighbors —
Warmer and drier to start the week here in the Lower Russian River area as ridging builds over California. Highs today in the 60s to lower 70s, a few degrees up from Sunday. Some patchy morning fog is possible from leftover moisture, but widespread fog looks less likely with high clouds moving in.
That dry break is short. The ridge moves east tonight and the next system arrives after midnight, with rain chances developing first over the North Bay late tonight.
Tuesday will likely bring a wet morning commute for Sonoma County and Santa Rosa, with rain spreading south and east through the day. Totals look highest over the North Bay at 0.10 to 0.50 inches. Thunderstorms are in the forecast over the northern coastal waters Tuesday afternoon, and a few models bring that instability briefly into Sonoma County — so a little boom boom and flashy flashy can't be ruled out, and forecasters may add thunder to the land forecast on the next update.
Drier and warmer from Wednesday on, with highs rebounding to the 70s to lower 80s by next weekend. Next rain chance after that is around Nov. 10-11.
Also note hazardous beach conditions through Tuesday evening — sneaker waves and strong rip currents along the coast.
Bottom line: enjoy a mild, dry Monday, and have rain gear ready for Tuesday morning.

Impacts: Waves can sweep across the shoreline without warning, pulling people into the sea from beaches, jetties, and rocks.
Stay off of jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside infrastructure. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous surf and NEVER turn your back on the ocean. Monitor local weather, surf and tide forecasts at www.weather.gov/mtr.
