FAQ

Question:
I'm on Android and when I click the Subscribe Buttons, I get an error stating "Webpage not available"

Answer:

Some Android phones won't pop up the text message app to send a message.  You can use your text messaging app to text the word "Subscribe" to the monitor phone number.

Question:
What do the various icons on the notifications page mean?

Answer:
Not all monitors can notify you using every method.  All are available on this website and discord so you'll see those icons. Those that will send text notifications will have the SMS icon.

Question:
I don't see a way to signup for text notifications from the website?

Answer:
Text notifications can only be signed up for if you view this website from a mobile device.  If the area is enabled for text notifications you'll see a big orange button that will open up your text app. Send the text and you'll be subscribed.

Question:
I want to discuss what I'm seeing in these monitors? How do I do that?

Answer:
You can join the Discord server to jump in on discussions.

Question:
This must cost money to run. How is the project funded?

Answer:
It is a minimal cost to run this application and website. The only variable cost is the text notifications.  Eventually a donation link will produced if people want to contribute to the cause. It can run for at least the next few years without funding as is.

Question:
I've responded back with a "STOP" on notifications but I still receive some text notifications.

Answer:
This would happen if you sign-up for multiple areas for notifications.  Each area has its own phone number associated to it.  So, if you still do a STOP on Sonoma County you'll still received text notifications from the West County monitor (assuming you signed up for both.) You'll need to respond with a STOP on that monitor as well. This flexibility allows you to optin/out as you want without having to be an all or nothing solution.
